Newton May 17 Louis Wade of this city died from a stab wound to the abdomen suffered during a scuffle at a local chop house. Miss Thomas is under arrest and claims the cutting was an accident. Both Wade and Thomas were restaurant employees, Wade a waiter and Thomas a dishwasher. The quarrel occurred shortly before the incident, and Thomas says the weapon was thrust during a friendly scuffle.

Accidental Gunshot Wounds Near Eldon Claim Teen’s Life
In Ottumwa dated May 17 a seventeen year old lad, Joe Wilson Jr of Eldon, died from a bullet wound to the breast fired by Ray Hollander. Despite the wound he sent for a doctor but died of internal hemorrhage before aid arrived. The incident occurred near Rock Island railroad north of Eldon and was deemed accidental after an inquest.
