Street Sprinkling car offered to city for four thousand dollars faces blunt opposition from the Street Committee which only offers two thousand. Tri-City Street Railway extension ordinance granted. extensions beyond Central Park to be completed by December fifth. Minor council matters include sidewalk petition on Laurel street and alley grading between Fifteenth and Sixteenth. City officials also approve two hundred dollars for auditing city books.
Thomas Bequette sues the B C R N railroad for 25000 for injuries from an August accident near Davenport Maiting works. He was yard master earning 65 dollars monthly, 29 years old, describing a footboard strike that crushed his right leg, causing permanent disability and lasting physical and mental harm.
Davenport High School will not participate in a spring athletic meet with Rock Island and Moline. The three cities have barred Davenport from the championship brand, preferring their own schedule. Davenport sought a tri city meet for experience but will host a home meet instead on May 13.

Resolutions passed at Muscatine by the Scott County Bar association and Hon. E. E. Cook urge the Iowa legislature to form a new two county district combining Scott and Muscatine with three district judges. The plan would provide constant judge services for Scott county and address local objections to the current district setup.
Davenport Lodge No 7 I O O F received a pleasant surprise during its regular session as members of Scott Zedeka Lodge No 2 Ladies of Rebekah arrived unannounced with a large delegation. The ladies arranged a literary and musical program carried out in fine style, and the lodge men hid the paraphernalia to enjoy the gifts and feast brought by the visitors.
Fritz Bartels, former Davenport brewer, was pulled from a Rock Island coach by Deputy Sheriff Henry Kuehl and Sheriff McArthur on Tuesday night after resisting a divorce case. He faces contempt charges and a judge's hearing. Bartels had fled to Sioux Falls after a court awarded his wife maintenance, and a new deposition trip to Davenport led to his capture. Mrs Bartels and four ill children reside in Park Lawn and lack support.
Rural residents in Scott County await Washington action on three petitions for rural mail routes. Congressman Joe R. Lane reports rural route No. 3 edition received and forwarded with a recommendation to establish the route, with anticipated approval by June 1. A second route and a daily mail service for Long Grove are also under favorable consideration for early summer implementation.
Yesterday morning a rag picker worked a downtown alley when a passing teamster asked how business was. The rag picker replied Picking up and the teamster could only laugh at the witty exchange.
The Rathering Ertz Company presents a pictorial panorama of Jesus life using 2290 feet of film at Edwards Congregational Church on Monday evenings the 24th. Miss Ertz has drawn praise and large crowds wherever shown. Dr. Wiard of Ft. Dodge calls it the best of its kind. Tickets cost 25 and 35 cents.
