Davenport area forecast calls for generally fair weather today with continued cold. Washington reports Iowa to see fair and warmer conditions Saturday and Sunday with fresh westerly winds turning variable.
A tank has rented the store at 321 West Third Street and will open a saloon this afternoon. A 160 acre Liberty township farm sold for 9920 to Johann Peterson, by Elizabeth Kian and others. False alarm sent downtown into a panic to Saint Katherine's hall at 10 p.m. Workers needed for night shifts at Davenport cannery. Funeral for I. T. Martin at First M. E. Sunday 10 a.m. Interment at Oakdale cemetery.
Articles of incorporation filed with the recorder of deeds list A W Vander Veer H O Seifert and W E Snider as incorporators and directors. Capital stock is 25000 with the object to build and manage large apartment buildings on Stadr street opposite St Luke's hospital. Vander Veer is president Seiffert vice president and Snider secretary treasurer.
Two notable subscriptions to the Boer War Fund were made yesterday to aid widows and children of Boer soldiers. W. D. Petersen gave 359 dollars and the Davenport Town Lot company added 50 dollars, handed to Dr. Henry Matthey, treasurer. Davenport’s open purse for worthy causes is evident.

Mark Kroeger a longtime Princeton Township resident was severely injured Thursday afternoon when his car was struck by a railroad train on the R.L. and N. W. tracks in Princeton. He suffered a broken hip and other injuries, with age making recovery uncertain and lengthy.

George E. B. McFarland and C. E. Hall were reappointed as superintendents. McFarland oversees the district north of the C R I P railway including Des Moines and Davenport, while Hall leads the southern Iowa district. General Manager E. B. Smith announced the moves yesterday. both men are highly regarded by the company.
Killian H. Siebel, manager of Universal Fuel, plans to be in Des Moines when frost ends to start erecting a battery of coke ovens there. He had promised Davenport ovens as well, and will likely send word to Davenport and Des Moines. Universal Fuel should begin operations soon to secure abundant local labor.
