Notice states Davenport voters will decide two measures at the April 1900 city election. One asks if a free public library should be established. the second authorizes a one fourth mill city tax for 1900–1904 to pay for a library site. City Clerk Albert J. Temple Emanuel in Davenport will get a new rabbi within two weeks. Fin Schreiber of Cincinnati, a top student and orator, will lead the synagogue after Rabbi Thomer’s departure. Schreiber expects to arrive in time for the Feast of Pasach two weeks hence. he remains ill with pneumonia and cannot travel yet.
British possessions in Africa imported 287,801 more dollars worth of merchandise from the United States in December than US imports of 98 dollars. The full year increase reached 1,462,448 dollars, a 12 percent rise.

Funeral services were held for T C Scott trainmaster of the Iowa & Southwestern division of the Rock Island road. Rev W F Barclay conducted at the home and Sacred Heart church with a large procession and floral tributes. Burial followed at St Marguerite's cemetery Davenport. Rail officials from three cities attended. seating was at capacity.
