A teachers training class examination was held yesterday at the county superintendent's office with fourteen attendees. The Strasser orchestra plans a December 28 dance at the armory, under SrA Finger's officiation yesterday. Henry Meier and Edna Mahntz married yesterday in Davenport offices. Tri-City Railway, Betendorf Wheel Works and others gave Christmas turkeys to employees. 325 were needed at the wheel works. Jno Forrest sent Anna R. Smith funds for the Mission Kindergarten, with more gifts expected. German Savings Bank honors patrons with a Christmas calendar, this year a mounted painting for office or home.

Obituary of W F Johnson Former Springfield official
W F Johnson former chief of the insurance department in the state auditor's office at Springfield for three terms before Altgeld era, died in Rock Island Friday after one day of illness neuralgia of the heart. Relatives include Walter Johnson of the Rock Island Union. He served in the Civil War and lost a leg. He was 55 in June and had recently returned to Rock Island to work in insurance. He formerly managed the Rock Island Union business.
