New Road Secures Land Options For Davenport Line
Clinton December 22 Chase and Seaman attorneys for the Northwestern and the Davenport Clinton and Eastern have taken options on a row of lots along the east side of Fourth street extending from the railway tracks at Twelfth avenue to the lumber yards on Beyer slough a distance of five and one half blocks. Ground will be tied for side tracks and warehouse grounds for local patrons who must move off the river front as river improvements begin. Des Moines December 22 Wilson Ogden of Woodbury County has begun mandamus proceedings to compel Governor Shaw to ask the federal government to patent lands in Woodbury County as swamp lands. If held swamp lands, the state must give them to the county. Ogden plans to buy them from the county if the governor denies.
