Burlington Dec 16 An elderly widower William Cash in living alone in a small one story frame house north of the depot at Gladstone was found dead yesterday morning. His clothes and much of his body were burned, the thighs and abdomen severely charred.
An unknown man, described as a soldier who served in the Philippine war, was burned to death in a calaboose fire at Down City on Wednesday morning. He had been drunken and unruly, placed in confinement, and perished when the calaboose fire quickly spread after the night watch last checked him at 4 am. The incident was discovered as the fire alarm sounded and the building was extinguished.
