Robert Seevers, an early settler and well known resident of the county, died of apoplexy at his home two miles southwest of Oskaloosa after a hearty breakfast. He was found unconscious by his wife and had enjoyed good health and vitality, with only slight deafness as age-related change. He leaves his wife and three sons, George, Brian Z., and Will Seevers, all prominent in local business.

Desperate Character Shot Near Wapello
Jim Lannon, known to Burlington police as a desperate character, was arrested by Al marshal Nearhood Friday night on the way to the county jail. Lannon attempted escape and Nearhood fired twice, hitting Lannon in the arm both times. Lannon was recaptured and jailed. Lannon had been aiding broom making at J. J. Harms home northwest of Wapello and is under close watch.
