Des Moines reports Iowa crop bureau final crop 2201 shows total corn yield 272,808,850 bushels, 65 percent of last year and 5 percent of 12 year average. Average price about 10 cents per bushel, down from 27 cents. Average yield per acre 26.2 bushels, total crop value $113,000,060 vs $93,000,600 prior year.
Anna Crawford was found guilty of manslaughter in the James E. Dillon murder trial. She was recommended to the mercy of the court and taken back to county jail. Sentencing will follow with other criminal cases, with penalties ranging from one to eight years in the penitentiary and fines up to $1,000.
Crawfordsville Iowa December 5 reports the vanished D M Young a prominent citizen who recently moved from Marsh Iowa to town. He left claiming realty business in Kansas then was heard from with a letter saying Edmonton Canada quarantined with smallpox. He is about forty, formerly a Marsh merchant and active church member and considered upright.
The Daughters of the American Revolution of Iowa will petition the next legislature to purchase land near Millspaugh Mills in Henry county to mark the grave of Charles Shepherd, who died in 1844. The plan calls for a monument and the grounds to become a state public park, noting Shepherd’s grave is the only unmarked Revolutionary soldier burial in Iowa.
Fort Dodge news reports Mayor Bennett orders all dogs muzzled in the streets. Any dog found without a muzzle will be shot. Proclamation follows multiple hydrophobia cases with at least five dogs killed in a week and fear of further bites.

The couple became acquainted through a matrimonial agency, and God was said to have not met until Parks arrived on the eve of the marriage.
Marshalltown December 6 Night Marshal J E Smith shot and killed by three robbers during an aborted bank break in Chelsea. The officer fired back and died in the exchange. The robbers escaped west on a handcart was used in escaping.
Matilda A. Assman seeks a divorce from F. W. Assman in St. Louis on grounds of cruelty infidelity and a conceited bore. H. J. Dwyer of Grand Rapids defeated Harry Parker the Little Demon in Waterbury in two straight falls. Dwyer pinned Parker after 29 minutes and again after 14 minutes, securing the 160 pound championship of America.
Allentown reports James Jeffords of California knocked out Jack McCormick of Philadelphia in the 14th round of a fight that was scheduled for 15 rounds. Jeffords improved his record as the New Jersey boxing card moved through the decider in Allentown Pennsylvania.
