Fight on Clinton Landing Involving Diamond Jr Steamer
On a Clinton landing a clash broke out between deck hands and second mate Michael Murphy aboard the Diamond Jr steamer Quincey. Constables Judd and Powers tried to arrest Murphy for allegedly attempting to kill Robert Jackson. Murphy fled to Savanna by train and reboarded the steamer, while six deck hands say he struck them with a wagon spoke, leaving Jackson severely hurt.
