Dauphin Summer Fair and Livestock Show

The Dauphin Summer Fair runs Thursday to Saturday July 11 to 13 with De Waldo Company attractions from Minnesota and a new Canadian midway. Horse racing closes the final two days and a possible rodeo may be hosted by the Dauphin Commercial Travellers Association. Exhibits open to Manitoba province statewide, replacing prior regional scope.

Burns Called to Dauphin United Church

At a Sunday meeting Dauphin United Church unanimously endorsed the selection committee and extended a call to Rev. Dr. D. K. Burns from Winnipeg St. John's. He will replace Rev. D. H. Telfer who took a Calgary post after three years of study at the University of Edinburgh where he earned a PhD.

Noted church worker marks 90th birthday celebration

Mrs. Margaret Nicholson born 1845 in Markham Ontario celebrated her 90th birthday with a surprise tea at her daughter’s home in Dauphin hosted by friends. The event featured roses and carna tions and a 90 candle cake honoring her long service in Sunday school and the Dauphin United WMS. She and her late husband moved from Ontario to Whitewood Saskatchewan in 1882 and she remains active in church groups. She has two daughters five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Obituary for Maurice Currie of Gilbert Plains

Maurice Currie of Gilbert Plains died May 12 after a two year illness. He was 65 and survived by his wife, six daughters, three living sons, one drowned son, a sister in Detroit, and a brother in Dauphin. Funeral May 14 in Dauphin United Church with Rev. D. H. Telfer. Death of John Boles Esteemed Ochre River Resident

John Boles aged 88 died in Saskatoon on Monday. Born in England he lived in Brandon then on the family farm later with his daughter in Saskatoon. He is survived by his wife, three sons, four daughters, and three brothers including William Boles of Ochre River. Funeral was held Thursday May 16 from United Church to Ochre River Cemetery.

Dauphin Council Sets General Rate at 18 Mills for 1935

Dauphin town council on Thursday evening approved a general rate of 18 mills for general purposes, one mill higher than 1934. The increase largely funds street repairs and annual relief expenditures of 7,500 dollars, which will be borrowed in full rather than charged to current operations. The council also discussed bylaw consolidations and utility policies, adjourned to May 28, and called for action on a dust abatement program and water-rate decisions for the CNR.
