Banking Hours Change After War Era Ends

The Canadian Bankers Association informs house banks to resume prewar hours from 10 a m to 3 p m starting May 12.

Five Calves Born to Benito Farmer Cow

A Benito Manitoba farmer C Hall reported his cow gave birth to five calves on Sunday May 4 in pasture. The calves died from cold before discovery with a combined weight over two hundred pounds.

Passing of Matthew C. Lee in early settler district

Matthew C. Lee a pioneer who helped develop Gartmore and Mountview in 1889 died after years of health. He left a widow and five children Mrs Alex Neill Robert John and Ernest. Funeral held Wednesday at the Presbyterian church with large Masonic lodge attendance and burial at Riverside cemetery conducted by Rev J A Cormie. pallbearers included A E Iredale A J McPherson H P Nicholson Jas Norton D Sutherland and W B Miller.

Meeting to Discuss Good Roads in Town Hall

A public meeting will be held in the town hall on Thursday May 15 to discuss the provincial highway route through the district. Hon George Grierson Minister of Public Works A McGillivray Highway Commissioner and other Good Roads Board members are expected to attend and address the gathering.

Ladies Auxiliary Meeting and Thanks to Donors

The Ladies Auxiliary will meet in the Club Rooms at 8 pm on the 20th while the executive gathers in the Rest Room at 3 30 pm. The group extends gratitude to all who donated furnishings for veterans' bedrooms.

An open meeting of the Dauphin Woman's Institute is set for Tuesday May 13 at 3 pm in the town hall. The Local Council of Women meets Friday May 9 at 8 pm with Mrs W FE Sanford to speak. L0.D.E holds a regular meeting on Saturday. Farrow and Young win bids for three new concrete bridges in Ethelbert.
