Oddfellows mark 100th anniversary in Dauphin ceremony
The Dauphin Oddfellows celebrated the 100th anniversary of the order with a May 1 service in the town hall attended by 250 members and Rebekahs from Grandview Gilbert Plains and Roblin. Speakers reviewed the order’s history and charity work while the event highlighted the home for Manitoba and wartime contributions. The gathering included a procession and music from the McMurray orchestra.

G W V A Notes May Meeting and Activities
The G W V A held a May 8 meeting with 39 to 40 members present. Thirteen returned soldiers applied for membership and were accepted, bringing total local branch membership to 195. A delegate, Comrade R Armstrong, was appointed to the May 16 memorial meeting called by Premier Norris. Donations totaling 112 65 from Ethelbert district and a 25 grant from the Dauphin Automobile Club are acknowledged. The Better Ole show funds the Star theatre May 23–24 under G W V A auspices. Plans for G W V A Sports Day on July 1 include committee appointments and posters. Next meeting is May 16 at 8 pm sharp. Manitoba Provincial Command has launched a weekly paper Manitoba Veteran at 5c per copy or 2 per year, with subscriptions taken by the local secretary.

Mrs. Sanford president of the National Council of Women spoke Friday evening in the rest room before a representative Dauphin gathering. Her message stressed Unity Sacrifice and Prayer and the need for divine guidance in private and public life. The Dauphin social council anticipates a renewed spirit of work and praises her leadership.

Four Men Injured in Burrows District Construction Collapse
Four men John Neely Frank Potter John James and Geo Smith were injured when a sudden whirlwind toppled rafters at a Burrows district construction site. Neely Potter and Smith suffered severe injuries delaying removal to town. James on the top floor was struck as he tried to jump clear.

Kilminster Girl Dies on Gilbert Plains Street
Seven year old Mrs Kilminster collapsed and died on a Gilbert Plains street on Sunday. The death was attributed to apoplexy in official reports.

Memorial Service for Lieut Stuart Widmeyer Chapter Members
Members of the Lieut. Stuart Widmeyer Chapter with La Veranda Chapter attended a memorial service at St. Pauls Church on Sunday. A large congregation joined in special psalms and lessons.
