Hon. E. N. Rhodes outlines shifts in personal exemptions personal tax rates and corporate taxes in the federal budget. Exemptions drop to 2000 for individuals and 460 for dependent children. New tax rates begin at 3 percent on the first 31809 of income. Ownership certificates apply to bearer securities. A five percent non resident tax applies to interest and dividends. Corporate tax rises to 12 percent with 2000 exempt, consolidations at 13 percent, and a five percent surcharge absorbed. A five percent tax on interest or dividends cashed at a premium. Sales tax remains six percent with many items moved to full rate and exemptions listed. Excise taxes set on cosmetics tires cigarettes sugar malt products and certain others. Continued on page five.

Collegiate Concert Surpasses Preceding Efforts in Auditorium Display
The Collegiate presented a two night program March 9 and 10 featuring The Pink Lady and The Flower Shop with elaborate stage decorations. The gypsy chorus, folk dances, and the Mikado numbers drew strong applause while Jack Barker led The Man in the Bowler Hat with Helen Bell as co performer. Bert Penman showcased Saxoma and Saxophobia. Miss Winnifred Robson accompanied and Frank Barker sang I'm Seventeen Come Sunday. The orchestra under Mr Leaners performed Chopin and Wagner works with the mixed chorus. the event raised a considerable though modest sum attended by enthusiastic listeners.

Dauphin Brigrade Triumphs In Provincial Playdowns
Dauphin intermediates swept Flin Flon in two straight games to reach the provincial final, winning 3 1 in the first game and 7 1 in the second as crowds packed the rink. Herb Leech opened the scoring for Dauphin and Tom Scrase added a key goal. Flin Flon with McDougall and Johnson fought hard but Dauphin’s back checking and pressure sealed the series.
