Agricultural show honors and stock judging results
At the D. D. MacDonald event contestants from Gilbert Plains Grandview Ochre River and surrounding districts competed in cattle beef sheep hogs poultry and horses. Medals were awarded to top individuals including H Archer Roy Loughren Alex Brown and Gilbert Plains team with strong showings from J A McKillop and R H Brown's groups. The Poultry Association provided the display and Prof Herner led judging demonstrations with praise for the boys knowledge.

Bonspiel Carnival Crowns Winners With Hopwood Trophy
The ladies completed a successful bonspiel last Thursday with mild conditions. Crowds watched rinks in four divisions as Mrs. C. F. Caldwell of Gilbert Plains captured the Hopwood trophy after a tight series of contests.

Vernon Galbraith of Gilbert Plains was admitted March 3 after a hillside coasting accident that caused abdominal perforation. he underwent surgery and shows good recovery. Other patients include Frank Baird after appendicitis who went home, Richard Shaw with a hand injury leaving after stitches, Henry Switzer discharged after a short stay, and Frank Finch of Togo for surgical treatment. James Pilgrim received medical care, Wilma Buchanan and Thomas Benchaski were discharged, and John Bratkoweski Jr. had surgery as listed in the hospital notes.

Fire destroys Felker barn. livestock saved except loss
On Wednesday March 4 at about 6 pm a fire broke out in W. H. Felker’s barn on Sec 25 2420. Mrs. Felker evacuated most stock, leaving one horse, two pigs and about 60 hens lost. The building was totally consumed with limited insurance coverage.

U F M Political Re Organization Convention Delays
The Dauphin district ULF M convention met March 5 at G W VA Hall with delegates, electing Ed Hewitt secretary. Enthusiastic Dauphin Kennel Club Meets on Dog By Law
The Dauphin Kennel Club held a March meeting at the community hall to discuss aiding the town council in remodeling the dog by law so residents may keep dogs if desired. A committee was appointed to present amendments and met the council for a courteous hearing. The club praises the council's effort to curb undesirables while supporting responsible citizen dogs as the issue rests with a town council committee.

Rink by Law Defeated by Bare Majority
After a heavy snowfall the rink by law was put to a vote on Tuesday. A three fifths majority was needed. 32 votes favored the measure and 82 favored against, yielding a decisive defeat for the rink by law. A separate fire destroyed a Ruthenian general store on the west road during the winter storm, with only one trunk saved and the family rescued.

Elks Host G W V A Ball with Varied Entertainment
Members of the local B P O Elks hosted a ladies night in the G W V A hall on Monday the 9th. A program featured readings violin and monologue numbers by local performers along with an amateur duet and an orchestra. The event included a luncheon prepared by the Elks. 1925 automobile plates are ready for distribution with license fees reduced by five dollars per passenger car.

The U F M annual meet climaxed Friday night in the town hall with 509 guests. D Kells served as floor manager as the revival of old time dances mixed with modern numbers by the McMurray orchestra. A midnight lunch followed and dancing ran to 3 AM.

Town Council Discusses By-Laws and Licences
