Provincial Elks Hold Annual District Convention in Dauphin
The Rebekah District No. 15 meeting in Dauphin drew about sixty-five members with Mrs. G. D. Shertreed in the chair. Delegates from Roblin Grandview Gilbert Plains and Dauphin plus over thirty Elks from Manitoba attended the provincial convention with officers including Grand Exalted Ruler Dr Wm E Spankie and Grand Secretary-Treasurer Col Royal Burritt. A banquet at Rex Cafe and social degree work followed the day’s sessions.

Girls Injured As Elk Stop Road On Park Route
On June 19 two girls crossing Riding Mountain near Lake Audy from Strathclair to Dauphin encountered a band of elk that blocked the road. The driver swerved into a tree, wrecking the car. both girls crawled out bruised and bleeding and walked toward Dauphin for two hours until rescue. Ruby Chessum, 19, of Strathclair required stitches for a split lip. her companion was only slightly injured.

Dauphin Pioneers Hold Reunion and Picnic Saturday
Old timers of the Dauphin district gathered at Fisher's Grove near Gartmore to renew ties with settlers who arrived by 1895. Attendees included Harry B. Whitmore and Charlie McDonald, both from 1884, with Whitmore recently marking a milestone birthday. The event featured old fashioned contests, pie eating, and a town versus country baseball game highlighting eighty year old Jake Cathers on third base, with plans for annual reunions and a Dauphin Regional Fair promotion offering a free farm chance with admission tickets.

Dauphin Clerk R. M. Cardiff Ends His Life
R M Cardiff longtime Dauphin County Court Clerk and school board secretary treasurer was found dead beside his car on a by road three miles south of Dauphin. The death ruled suicide after a revolver was found at the scene. Cardiff aged 62 had not been well recently and left office around 1 30 pm Friday. His body was discovered Saturday morning after a search led by RCMP officers. He was born in Brussels Ontario and had lived in Dauphin since 1894. His first wife was Marion Beauchamp.

French’s farm. The event highlighted weed control, hay and grain balance, and alfalfa yields with multiple cuttings since 1923.

Fire destroys 100 cords at Dauphin wood yard
A Friday evening blaze at Dauphin's municipal woodyard destroyed over 100 cords of dry poplar. Firefighters fought for three hours to stop spread, with 2000 cords total in the yard. Cause unknown, investigation underway. Loss estimated at 350 for wood plus 85 in firefighting costs.
