Dauphin Regional Fair Open With Great 1934 Program

Dauphin summer regional fair opens July 12 to 14 after overcoming difficulties. Dauphin Agricultural Society promises a strong exhibit program with grand stand features midway and sideshows. Visitors will find picnic facilities meals and lodging. stores plan a Friday half holiday and a busy weekend for shoppers and tourists. Farm prizes and community funds are expected as many delay holidays to attend.

Dauphin Selects George J. Brown as Utility Superintendent

The Dauphin Town Council unanimously chose George J. Brown of Winnipeg to head the town public utilities. Brown, a University of Minnesota electrical engineer, has nine years with Manitoba Public Works and three years with the Municipal and Public Utility Board. He has governed water systems, lignite furnace projects, and electrical rate studies.

Pioneer Merchant A Rzesnoski Dies at 58 in Dauphin

Anthony Rzesnoski longtime Dauphin resident and business leader died at home after a heart condition. He founded Green and White store after leading the Dauphin Milling and Creamery, survived by four daughters and four sons. Funeral services were held Saturday with Father Pelech officiating and Riverside cemetery interment.

Camp meetings set for girls and boys at St. James church

A joint notice calls all girls aged 12 to 18 who wish to attend the Clear Lake girls camp, July 22 to 30, to meet at St. James church on Thursday at 7 30 p m. All boys aged 12 to 18 who plan to attend the July 16 to 23 camp are asked to meet at St. James church on Friday at 7 30 p m. Attendance is requested for all wishing to attend camp this year.

Kiddies Picnic Draws Large Crowd In Dauphin Park

Over a thousand attend the annual Kiddies Picnic in the town park on Monday July 2 under the Dauphin Unemployed Association. Robert Hawkins M L A opens events and prizes are awarded for races ages 5 and under to 14. Softball winners Smith Jackson and Whitmore. wind and band add to a near perfect day.

Robert James McQuay Early Settler of This Area Buried Sunday

Funeral services were held Sunday for Rebt. James McQuay a pioneer farmer of the Dauphin district who died after a long illness. He was 83. Born in Cartwright Ontario in 1850 he spent youth in Dundalk Ontario and farmed locally until 1898 when he moved to Manitoba north of Dauphin. Surviving are seven children John William A Robi J Thomas E Oliver W and Mrs J Lee, all of Dauphin and others in Canada. Rev D H Telfer Installed As New Rotary President

Rev Douglas Telfer was installed as president of the Dauphin Rotary Club for 1934 35 at a July 3 luncheon. D P McDonald the retiring president presented the gavel from the Fourth District Winnipeg meeting and donated a brass gong for future meetings. The club praised McDonald for growth in membership and activity. R F Smith led the arrangements with T P Gorham as secretary. W Douglas acted as paymaster.

Mrs. Florence Morgan Knight Dies After Long Illness

Mrs. Albert Knight Florence Martha Morgan Knight died Saturday June 30 after nearly three years of illness. Funeral service was held Tuesday at the family home Vermillion Park Dauphin with burial at Riverside cemetery. Rev Wm Brailsford officiated. Pallbearers included Douglas Kinney Fred Little Alex Oliphant James Brown F W Bumstead and Gavin Craig. Survived by husband Walter of Winnipeg daughter in law Mrs Robert Johnston of Govan Sask four grandchildren.
