Registration Drive Urges Dauphin Residents to Sign Up

Caerum Town reports about half of Dauphin's population registered by Wednesday morning leaving roughly 200 still to enroll. Booths open Thursday and Friday 9 am to 6 pm and 7 30 to 10 pm. Saturday 7 am to 1 pm at town hall municipal hall and schools. Registration required for all aged 16 and over.

Local Chapter Supports Red Cross War Fund Efforts

At a special meeting on the 16th inst the chapter unanimously resolved to cooperate with the Red Cross for war work fundraising. Community members may donate eggs to the Convalescent Home Winnipeg at McDonald Voigt's store or at the 1.0. CE rooms on the fourth Friday monthly. A knitting contest is launched by Mrs Walker Jr and Mrs Sutherland to produce the most socks by September 1, with chapter yarn supplied for knitting.

Campbell Loses Appeal Over Town Assessments

The sole appeal this year questioned John A Campbell's property at corner Second Ave N W Vermillion St, assessed 11250. Judge Kaycastle dismissed the appeal, ruling Campbell failed to prove inequity with neighborhood assessments. The report also notes obituaries, school knitting prizes, a barn dance fundraiser, a Red Cross bale, and several late May and June births in Dauphin and Winnipegosis.

The school board engaged Miss Mary Hamilton of Ochre River and Miss Benny Elien to fill vacancies on the public school staff amid numerous applications received for the positions.

Fire destroys Robt. Fair's house near town

A residence owned by Robt. Fair about six miles southeast of town was destroyed by fire early Saturday morning, with nearly all contents burned. In a separate incident, five horses were killed by a east train near Gilbert Plains junction on Sunday.

Man Sentenced After Pleading Guilty to Five Counts

A man admitted five counts at the station ticket office and was sentenced to years in the penitentiary after pleading guilty. The presiding official was P. M. Hawkins on the Mth.
