Construction Starts on Mossey River Dam Extension
H W R Gemmel district engineer of the Dauphin branch of the good road department said work has begun on the Mossey river dam extension. A cofferdam is sealed off between the dam wall and the river bank and concrete spillways are expected to be laid in the coming days with stop logs to control Lake Dauphin water level.

Red Shield Fund Drive Nears Final Dauphin Phase
The Salvation Army Red Shield campaign in Dauphin enters its final phase for 1949. Nearly $900 has been subscribed toward a $2,500 district goal. A mobile unit of the Manitoba sanitorium board x rayed 2 596 residents in the Dauphin rural municipality during a TB survey last week. The total rural population is 6 060. 559 more examinations were added since 1947. X rays occurred in Sifton Fairville Valley village Kosin Banks and Spruce Creek.

Friday saw a peak in temperatures at 89.3 degrees with a record high for the year. A cloud burst drenched the district Tuesday, dropping more than half an inch of rain in about 30 minutes mid afternoon.
