The Children’s Aid Society of Dauphin acknowledges further contributions from various schools on Empire Day. The list includes amounts tied to Benito, Egilson, Santes, Valley River, Turtle River, Square Plains, Whitmore, Presbyterian Mission Band Sifton, Damary Ruthenian, Winchester, Clanwilliam, and Pisco River among others. Total figures appear as a compiled donation record with committee chair Murray and F. H. as signatories.
The S A S will meet Tuesday at 3 30 in the town hall. Word from POW William Wallace in Germany says parcels from the society reached him after transfers. A tea and home cooking sale at Duval's Saturday from two to five p.m. ice cream donated. Band concert at the park Friday drew a large crowd, netting $35.00 for the society.
R A Mushrow a Roblin farmer faced P M Roblin on Monday charged with stealing barley from Henry James Pomeroy. After evidence he was committed to stand trial at the fall assizes at Dauphin with Mr Mc Girr for the Crown and Mr Bowman for the defence.
The St James Presbyterian Ladies Aid announces an ice cream social on church grounds Friday evening June 22 with a band in attendance. Campbell newborn son reported at Dauphin dated June 13 to Mr and Mrs Jas A Campbell.
NUMA COSTE expresses gratitude to friends and especially Mr. Mark Hermiston for assistance and sympathy after the death of her parents.
A crank was found at Lake Beach and turned in to the Herald Office for identification and return to its owner. Residents are asked to contact the Herald Office with any information.

Commissioners Robt Porke and G A Metcalfe held a session in the town hall on the 8th to review equalization with Dauphin district municipalities. Reeve Geort Castle and others attended from Gilbert Plains, Ste Rose, Massey River, Minitonas, Grandview, Ochre River, and more. No major grievances or anticipated changes were found. Gilbert Plains was overpaying relative to Dauphin and others.
The Dauphin Creamery became Manitoba’s first creamery to ship a carload of butter for export this season. It sent a car on Tuesday to Pat Burns & Co. in Vancouver. Thirty percent of the car was graded Manitoba special by Mr. A. Gibson, Provincial Dairy Commissioner, who was in town to grade the consignment.
The History and Oratory Contest for the H N Macneill medal drew a large audience in the Whitmore School Assembly room on Friday. Thirteen contestants competed, eleven of them girls, with Grace Cruise winning for The Life of Sir John Macdonald and Kathleen O Connor for The Government of Canada.
The ion-secretary acknowledges receipt of donations from Baptist Willing Workers and Home Comic Society including garments and $270.00 from the sale of old iron. Miss Scrase contributed $1.00. Subscriptions are invited to support wounded soldiers by transferring from the closed Patriotic Fund.
On the closing day of school Collegiate students and teachers presented Mr. Harding with a useful leather club bag. Dr Bewell chaired. Miss Ella Ramsay assisted by Victor Bossons delivered the gift on behalf of Collegiate. Mr. Harding voiced appreciation and wished the school future success in Dauphin.
Handed to the Red Cross last week were 23 pajama pairs and 7 sock pairs. Donations included Mr. F Baylis five dollars, tea one cent at four dollars seventy, plus material to be made up. A July 2 concert is planned with features to be advertised. Mrs. G J Walker reported on the April provincial meeting in Winnipeg. The Manitoba CCD E raised eighty five thousand dollars last year, nearly doubling the prior year, with thirty four thousand from Winnipeg outside primary chapters and forty five dollars from a Star Theatre benefit. The committee thanks the children who helped make the evening a success.
A Saturday sale offers home cooking ten cent tea and ice cream served by the Mite society of St. Pauls church in the Edgar block next to the post office from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on June 1.
Henry Iwaski, a Ruthenian settler in the Mountain, died by suicide on Monday. He was Sé years old and had been in poor health. He fed a strap to a bedpost, looped it around his neck, and hanged himself. Coroner Culbertson visited Tuesday and ruled an inquest unnecessary.
The Dauphin Auto club plans to publish member names next week. J R Eagle sold two Dodges to F E Simpson and Robi C McLeod this week. The Herald calls for child safety as auto ownership grows and urges drivers and parents to observe Safety first.
Mrs. Robin Hawkins hosted a Friday 500 party with lady teachers and friends. Guests wore dresses made of newspaper or brown paper and many original models debuted. Prizes went to Mrs. McGirr and Miss Gardiner for their designs while Miss Cuthbert and Miss Arnett led in cards.
