Mr W J Osborne provincial municipal auditor visited the Eldald office and said he audited most district municipalities with satisfactory results. He noted an unusual fact that one secretary treasurer has thirteen children and another twelve, highlighting large families.
At Sunday evening service St Pauls church gathered in the basement to present farewell to organist H Hunter who leaves Dauphin for the Home Land. Rector noted his musician and churchman value while Atkins designed a farewell address. McFadden gave a purse of money. Hunter expressed gratitude for four years of service. Choir later hosted at Mrs W Lee for a club bag presentation and more thanks. Refreshments followed with hymns.
The fortnightly town council session on the 2th ult included mayor and most of the council. Four applicants sought the night policeman post. former officer J. R Levins was chosen at ten dollars monthly. Restaurants must connect to waterworks before licenses. A delegation opposed a nearby slaughterhouse site, planning to appeal to the rural council for a possible relocation.
In St Pauls church on Friday evening a quiet ceremony joined Mr W F Morley and Miss Daisy Whitmore. The bride was given away by her father H B Whitmore with Miss Maud Whitmore as bridesmaid and J Whitmore as best man. Rev Harry P Barrett officiated. Afterward families moved to the Whitmore home for supper and a pleasant gathering.
Property transfers note Robt Johnston has sold his residence on Sthaye South West to H Hawkins. The Great War Veterans association plans a big celebration on Tuesday July 1 Dominion Day with a forenoon parade and afternoon sports including baseball football track and children’s races. A grand ball will be held in the town hall that evening.
Unfavorable weather last Saturday forced the tennis tournament finals to be delayed until Saturday afternoon next. A new match schedule for the following week will be prepared and posted at the club house.
The La Verandrye Chapter 1.C.D.E. holds its regular business meeting in the town hall Saturday afternoon at three oclock. A son was born to Mr and Mrs H A Alley at Ashville on May 31. A son was born to Mr and Mrs Stanley Johnston at Dauphin on May 31.
The Presbyterian Ladies Aid plans an ice cream social in the Park on Tuesday evening June 6 with a band. A sale of work will be held Friday June 6 in the Salvation Army hall from 3 p.m. to evening featuring home made needlework men's goods groceries and more with refreshments. All are invited.
The strike situation remains unchanged with late news hopeful for a settlement. Locally the number of strikers grows as freight handlers car checkers and call boys join. Superintendent R C Brown traveled from Portage on Tuesday and met telephone operators but the exchange remains closed. The town maintains order throughout.
Winnipegosis village held elections on the 30th with three mayoral candidates J. C. Adam receiving 57 votes, J. P. Grenon 19, and J. S. Siefferton. Elected councillors are Geo Lyons ward 1 Ed Cartwright ward 2 Jos Burrell ward 3 Sid Dennett ward 4.

J E Wallwin issues convenient standings card in high demand.
Thos Scott enlarges his dancing pavilion by 22 feet for a total floor area of 44 by 28 feet. He has sold the pavilion to Kennedy and Lamb of Ochre River who will run the business. A dance is planned for Friday night at Scott's pavilion. Water levels are low in the lake and the pier should be rebuilt soon. Mr and Mrs Bell of Grandview have reopened their store. local youths from Ochre River and Makinak enjoyed a Wednesday dance at the pavilion. Road to the lake now in good condition with many cars visiting each evening.
Mrs Wm Robinson, a Dauphin district pioneer, died at Prince Albert on the 28th aged 87. Survived by four of ten children and 62 grandchildren with 38 great grandchildren. Interment was at Ste Rose du Lac on Saturday with Mrs Kelly and Mrs Rosser accompanying the remains.
A patriotic box social and land dance will be held Friday June 20 at J Allec's premises. All invited to enjoy several short addresses. Proceeds support Lettish Relief Committee for Latvia on the Baltic. J Aller, committee member, urges attendance.
