Annual Dauphin Agricultural Society Meeting Report Highlights Heavy Expenditures

The Dauphin Agricultural Society held its annual meeting on Thursday with about twenty members present. Secretary Robt Hawkins reported a net deficit of 1000 to 1100 dollars for the year despite 4400 dollars spent on new buildings and ongoing needs for winter fair funding, hall improvements, and better exhibitor support.

Widow Mrs Bazile Found Dead in Field Near Sifton

Mrs Maxine Bazile seventy two was found frozen to death Thursday afternoon tangled in barbed wire near her home five miles from Sifton. She had visited a neighbor the previous evening and likely took a shortcut home in dusk. Coroner Dr Rogers of Dauphin ruled death by misadventure and no inquest was held.

Victim of Pneumonia David Winters Dies in Gilbert Plains

David Winters 3X of Wilford district Gilbert Plains died Sunday morning at 12 30 in Dauphin General Hospital after pneumonia. He was a single son of Samuel Winters of Dauphin and longtime farmer. Survived by three sisters Mrs Jas Hall Newington Ontario Alice and Florence in Detroit. two brothers Isaiah 0 and Henry of Dauphin. Funeral Wednesday in United Church conducted by Rev A W Lochead. interment Riverside Cemetery with pallbearers Lorne Metz W Crawford F Maynard Fred Strachan E Kemp and L Gray.

Theft and Break-ins Hit Local Warehouses and Cars

Thieves struck the Imperial Warehouse and Dauphin Milling Co. on consecutive nights stealing cash and a cheque for seven while breaking glass to gain entry. A spate of damage followed, including a burglary pattern similar to a prior larceny. On Tuesday night a car was pushed toward the curb with the battery removed.

Ottawa reports Major Mtulck promoted to lieutenant colonel to command the Manitoba Horse in succession bin. Lieut-Col 38. Rameden shifts to second reserve regiment. Pamsden reassigned to new quarters at 41 Campaign. Mtulck served in France Belgium in 1918 and in India Afghanistan from 1918 to 1956.

Pioneering settler Thos Pellan passes after long illness

Thos Pellan of Main Street South died at 5 15 Thursday morning November 28 after an extended illness. Born 1858 in Darlingon County Ontario, he married Sarah Ferlone and settled at Clanwilliam then Riding Mountain before moving to town in 1912. Survived by three sons Edgar Arthur and Thomas, seven grandchildren, and many relatives. Funeral Saturday at Alter Church with burial in Riverside Cemetery.

Octogenarian Passes Away in Dauphin District

An 79 year old resident of the Dauphin district died recently after a long life and good health. He was born in Quebec and moved west many years ago. His wife survives him for the loss of a longtime spouse.
