Council to Open Tenders for Dam and Filtration Plant Tonight

The town council meets this evening to open tenders for gliding the new dam and filtration plant. Immediate action is expected to ensure Dauphin’s water supply before winter. Also on the agenda are power rate plans and related property issues with several council motions carried or referred.

Dauphin Couple Celebrate Golden Wedding

Mr and Mrs Thomas Stewart celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in Dauphin with a daytime and evening reception at their home. The couple, married August 27 1885 in Middleville Ontario, long served their community and church and have three children a grandchild and a wide circle of friends.

Dauphin Schools Reopen Tuesday September 3

The Dauphin public schools resume classes on Tuesday September 3 for all students. New entrants join Smith Jackson and Mackenzie schools with age eligibility for six by December 1. Parents must show birth proof. girls promoted to grades VII and VIII report Whitmore. boys to Smith Jackson. others attend previous classrooms for assigned classes and required texts.

Improvement Seen In June Results Of Local Collegiate Institute

June examination results at Dauphin Collegiate Institute show notable gains over 1934. Grade XII had 216 papers with 176 passes an 81.5 percent pass rate compared with 74.3 percent last year. Grade XI had 420 papers with 331 passes a 79 percent rate up from 76.3 percent in 1934.

Country Club to Hold Golf Sports Day on Labor Day

The Dauphin Country Club invites members and out of town visitors to a Golf Sports Day on Labor Day September 2 1935 starting at 10 a.m. Events include an eighteen hole handicap tournament long driving putting and approaching to the green prizes will be awarded with 18 total and spectators admitted free. Participants may enter any events or bring a partner for the tournament.

Hawkins Calls for Monetary Reform in Canada

MLA Robert Hawkins urged monetary reform in Canada in a Rotarian address, tracing the social credit idea from England.
