Governor General to Visit Dauphin

His Excellency the Duke of Devonshire, Governor General of Canada, will visit Dauphin on Monday the 26th. A reception committee will greet him at the 11:30 train, followed by a 12 noon luncheon then a drive through the countryside to view crops. Premier Norris and Sir Jas Atkins will accompany him, with tickets for the luncheon sold by Canadian Club members and three stores before Friday.

Rural Schools Reopen With Returning Teachers

Rural schools reopen on Monday with a list of teachers for each school. Mountview hires Lola Caldwell, Dickson Mabel Buchannon, Wilson River Jessie Weather head, Dauphin Plains Bessie Bateman, Sandringham Beach, Vista Ellen Terry, Listower Cole, Old Dauphin Chute, Mayflower Dutton. May Munson now heads the day commercial telegraph office at the station.

Potato Problem in Dauphin Prompts Urgent Market Search

Mr Blackadar as Production Committee chairman urged town to plant potatoes leading to an exceptional crop expected next month. Thousands of bushels cannot be used locally, so a market outside must be secured for early shipment. The onus is on Blackadar and his committee to act quickly.

Farmers and threshers called to meeting on wage standard

The Board of Agriculture calls farmers and thresher men to meet at the Rural Municipal hall on Saturday August 24 at o'clock to discuss establishing a standard wage for labor and a uniform threshing charge. A. Esplen is president and R. M. McCaul is secretary.

Boy Killed by Lightning on Lake Road Farm

A 14 year old boy, son of Mr. William Warrain, was killed by lightning Sunday afternoon while riding with his brother to herd cows near their lake road farm. The horse also died. The brother was uninjured. Funeral held Monday at Riverside cemetery with Rev. H. P. Everett officiating.

Jodoin Given One Year Jail Term for Bigamy

Henry Jodoin of Ste Amelie faced P M Hawkins on bigamy charges and was found guilty. He received a one year sentence with hard labor. Capt H K Newcombe is currently serving with British troops in Persia.

Boy Drowns In Well After Board Removal In Victoria Park

The three year old son of Mr. Courtney Veal of Victoria Park fell into a well Sunday and drowned after apparently removing the top boards. Funeral conducted Tuesday by Dr. de Mattos. Wheat cutting begins in the district this week.
