Red Cross Swim Classes End Two Week Session
Dauphin Rotary club sponsored Red Cross swimming instruction for 273 participants over a four week period. Tests by W. Yarema Golden Anniversary Celebrated in Dauphin
Mr and Mrs Mike Yarema celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a July 31 dinner and dance at the Eleventh Avenue hall in Dauphin. The couple, both Greek Catholic, farmed in Fork River before retiring in 1951 to Dauphin. they wed June 13 1913 at Sifton and have nine children. Relatives from Ontario and Manitoba attended, gifts included two rocking chairs and golden age china.

July 26 to July 31 was hot by day and cool at night with no precipitation. Through August there have been hot days with general showers or traces of moisture on seven of thirteen days. A heat spike occurred August 5 and 7 followed by a gradual cooling. Max moisture recorded .29 on August 11. Minimum moisture of .01 occurred August 8 and 12.

Dauphin grain deliveries for 1962 63 reach 1 921 000 bushels all grains far surpassing 1961 62. The record exceeds the 1950 51 peak by 280 000 bushels and stores and shipments show growth across local terminals and farms in the Dauphin area.

Hospital Opening Set for Sept. 8
Dauphin General hospital prepares to inaugurate the new wing, renovated central building, and new laundry building on September 8. New RCMP Officer Commanding Dauphin Sub-division
Inspector Fred W. Johnson is the new officer commanding of the Dauphin sub-division, RCMP, arriving from Nelson B C to assume duties August 2. He succeeds Superintendent John A. Stevenson, transferred to Nelson. Johnson returns to Dauphin after ten years, served here in 1949 1953, and has a 30 year RCMP career with postings across Ontario Manitoba Alberta Saskatchewan and British Columbia.

The 1963 CNEE excursion trains with 200 Canadian and American tourists will arrive in Dauphin at 3 30 p m DST after leaving Winnipeg Friday morning. The Dauphin chamber of commerce and goodwill Manitoba plan a warm welcome and seek local car owners to display countryside and town scenery. Dr Les Pascoe and Bill McClernon coordinated last week’s parade of cars and invite Dauphin residents to participate again.
