Mrs Brydon of Ogilvie District Dies in Manitoba Visit
The town assessor’s mother Mrs William Brydon died in her sleep during a Monday night visit to her daughter in the Ogilvie district Manitoba. Born in Ontario she once lived in Owen Sound and later moved west. She would have turned 70 this Wednesday. Surviving are Mrs Alexander of Dauphin and Janet at home. The body was sent by train to the family home and buried at Plumas Cemetery.

Auto crash near Swan River claims life of Mrs Hay
A weekend crash on the Swan River Minitonas highway killed Mrs. Robert Hay and injured two others. The car skidded on a bridge approach when brakes were applied too suddenly, overturning and crushing Mrs Hay who died minutes later. Russell and two children were shaken but uninjured.

Basket Picnic at Ochre Beach Draws Rail Workers
The second annual Basket Picnic by the Canadian Nations Recreational Association takes place at Ochre Beach on Thursday August 15. Railway employees and Dauphin residents are invited to join a day of softball football races swimming and more with hot meals and dancing. Lochead Begins Pastoration at Dauphin United Church
The Rev. A. W. Lochead begins his pastorate at Dauphin United Church after moving from London Ontario. He led both morning and evening services on August 4 with a large turnout. The united choir performed an anthem as temporary leader R. P. Eastman took the solo. The evening featured W. Caldwell singing Open the Gate to the Temple. The St James and Grace churches recently merged and July meetings were held in St James Church after extensive repairs increasing capacity to 550.

Dauphin sightseers ride in Waco 10 plane visit
On Tuesday a Waco 10 biplane piloted by A D Keith and K N Routley brought sightseers to the Dauphin area. They landed at McClernon farm then loaded passengers at Cruise field before moving on to Swan River. They plan to return August 15 for the CN R picnic at Ochre Beach. A Winnipeg car overturn at Keld injured a child. The Dauphin Theatre promotes a double feature with Victor McLaglen in The River Pirate and Hoot Gibson in King of the Rodeo.

Directors reported a surplus on fair operations for 1929 of about 900 dollars. The operating statement lists receipts of 12 198.55 and expenses including prizes salaries grounds and police light and water and printing with a profit of 11 312.60 and 885.95 balance. Roger Watson was chosen to represent the society at a Western Canada Fairs Association meeting in North Battleford on August 9 to discuss 1930 exhibition plans.
