Severe hail and rain storm hits Dauphin region

A Monday night hail storm caused extensive damage across Dauphin mains district and Sifton with many windows broken at the Reeve’s photo gallery and courthouse. At Dauphin on July 30 a daughter was born to Mr and Mrs John Riehl. Dorion Mitchelson and Catherine Wemyss Mitchelson joined in marriage at the Magnet manse on July 28. Albert Jack son Weir and Mary Ayton Brown wed at St Gileas Presbyterian church Montreal on July 4. Weir has ties to Valley River Manitoba while Brown hails from Edinburgh and Roxburghshire.

Doukhobors fined over fire on Madge Lake reserve

Three Doukhobors started a fire on Big Island in Druck Mountain forest reserve last week and let it run. The blaze spread and could have caused great damage if unchecked. They appeared before a magistrate, pleaded guilty, and were fined $75 plus costs.

Wheat harvest optimism echoes 1915 crop year

Robt. Brewer reports eight rowed heads of wheat in town on Monday. He notes grain has improved greatly over the past two weeks. Brewer compares the present season to the big 1915 crop year and believes yield could exceed it if this pace continues.

JOE JOINS FARMERS GROUP IN MANITOBA LEGISLATION

Jos Hamelin MLA for Ste Ros joins the Farmers group bringing it to fourteen members, second in strength to the Norris group. T. H. Verner of the land revenue department says a list of Manitoba merchants not complying with the luxury law is being compiled for prosecution under Ottawa instructions.
