Proposals outline July fair events with open baseball and horse racing, plus a plowing match at Ochre River in June. The Winter Short Course and Boys Judging Competition are reviewed, with a decision to drop boys judging at the summer fair and to add beef and dairy breed calf competitions for 1925.
Seven Grade XI students will present Canadian History speeches in a Friday May 1 contest in the McKenzie school auditorium for a medal donated by Mr. H. N. Macneill. Judges are Mayor Palmer J L Bowman and Dr J R Gunn. Next Monday May ith Mr J L Paton retiring head master of Manchester High School England will visit Dauphin to address senior pupils Canadian Club staff and a public meeting with Hon Chas Cannon and Mr R Fletcher.
The Grand Master was warmly received during the big night at the lodge. Joshua Law received a Veteran's Jewel for 25 years of continuous membership. Whelan praising Dauphin district loyalty, Fagen and Haddrell offered congratulations and pledges of support. A luncheon followed.
Seaforth Ontario April 9 Mrs William Murray of Tuckersmith celebrates her hundredth birthday with her daughter Mrs Harry Tyndall present. She was married in 1854 to the late William Murray. Her family includes fourteen children, seven surviving, plus 35 grandchildren and 61 great grandchildren. A son, Mr William Murray of Dauphin, also listed.
The Dauphin Tennis Club announces four newly surfaced hard gravel courts with new tapes nets and posts. Play starts immediately with a formal opening planned for a Saturday afternoon and tea on the grounds. The club aims for its first tournament on May 25 and seeks inter club matches. Membership is reduced to five dollars with applications to the president Jo Echier secretary O W Struthers or any director including Mrs G H Palmer Mrs J FE Delmage Mrs J N McFadden Mr L Curtis and Mr Carlyle Bell.
The movement to observe May 12 as National Hospital Day began in 1921 and has spread worldwide. The announcement urges readers to turn thoughts to hospitals their importance, services, and needs, asking for sympathy cooperation and help, with more details to come next week.
A large Rotarian gathering in Saskatoon brought 409 delegates to the Fourth District conference. Since Rotary arrived in Canada 15 years ago, 24 Canadian towns were represented from the Great Lakes to the Rockies. Delegates discussed health and prosperity plans and praised Saskatoon hosts for their warm reception to town representatives Harry Crimes, Doug Kinney and Jim Campbell.
The drive for a record 1925 membership begins with Mayor G. H. Palmer as the first subscriber. Fees are $5.00 for full membership and $2.50 for associates, defined as salaried individuals or the second in command in institutions. If missed, leave the fee with secretary R. C. Smith.
The Local Council of Women reschedules its Educational meeting to Tuesday May 5 at 8 p.m. in the Rest Room to discuss Forest Fire Protection and national economic development. Mrs. R. M. Wait leads the program as Save the Forest literature is circulated and membership drives for League of Nations Societies proceed May 1–2. Arbor Day proclaimed by Lieut Governor Atkins for May 4. Births: Margaret Isabella Brodie in Dauphin April 26. Edward Lyle Riehl born April 25 in Dauphin.
In the Friday session His Honor heard Riddie v Hess over a cow replevin. Plaintiff claimed a cow found in Ochre River pound in 1924 matched his description after losing one in 1977, but the court ruled for the defendant citing closer acquaintance. The Saturday docket included Merrick and Leach versus a horse trader with conflicting value evidence and a waiver argument, resulting in dismissal.
On Monday morning before Magistrate Hawkins three men were charged with riding a train to defraud the railway company. H C Miles led the case for the C N Investigating Dept. The men, two first offenders, had combined assets of 35 cents. They were convicted and fined 10 dollars 90 cents plus costs or one month in jail. The warrant was held 24 hours. A separate case against Wm D Rose for Motor Vehicle Act infraction was dismissed due to insufficient evidence of liquor influence. Alex Katz defended, C B S A Rogers prosecuted.

A group of young boys faced the magistrate in juvenile court charged with breaking and stealing. They were out for a country picnic when they broke into a school house and took eatables. The magistrate placed them on probation and assessed costs equal to the value of the stolen goods.
