Kidnapping scare grips family near Cumberland

Bonnie Persinger, an eighth grader from Allegheny County, was allegedly abducted by a group of women who forced her into a car and later dictated a ransom plan. She described an apartment, new clothes, and an $1,000 ransom to be left under a tank behind the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Co. office in Cumberland while authorities traced the leads and alerted state police. The girl later called home from a Cumberland pay station and provided details about the suspects and the escape.
