Judge Signs Temporary Injunction To Halt Strike
Knoxville, Tenn AP A Criminal Court judge signed a temporary injunction to halt a strike by the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen against Southern Railway. About 400 workers in Knoxville protested a consolidation of two Virginia yards. A Birmingham strike of about 600 Local 351 and 893 members was not halted. The injunction rests on arbitration requirements and the railroad says the consolidation was authorized this year. Two passenger trains were delayed but most trains stayed in normal operation.
