Talks aim to register guerrilla gains in Lebanon

A government spokesman said talks were intended to register guerrilla gains in Lebanon as U S backed efforts to withdraw troops continued. In northern Lebanon near Syria a new military air base at Klayat faced attack with rockets mortars and artillery from guerrillas, leaving casualties and damage to the runway. In Tripoli gunfire wounded and killed people as pro guerrilla factions battled near the Old City while Sidon saw an army checkpoint attack with grenade and machine gun fire wounding one soldier.
