Heart Transplant Performed At MCV As Earlier Patient Dies

In Richmond Virginia AP report doctors at Medical College of Virginia carried out a heart transplant on Darrell D Starcher 32 of Alexandria amid the death earlier of Paulette Johnson 19 of Petersburg from acute rejection. The four patients at MCV now include transplant survivor Joseph G Klett 54 and donor Louis B Russell Jr 34 Indianapolis with several others previously alive. The latest operation followed a Norfolk General Hospital transplant tragedy and involved a 72nd surgery team led by Dr Richard R Lowry.
