Killer on the loose tied to Galveston case through March
Police link Ward to multiple crimes across Houston area parking lots since March. Two women identified him as their captor. one was pistol whipped on a Galveston beach and another raped in her apartment. A missing Westbury High School junior, Miss Osten, vanished October 18 after leaving a Houston shopping center. Her body was found next day in pasture, raped and shot four times in the back of the head. Ward claimed protection pistols were given to him for safety against the killer, and investigators tied a gun to the Osten murder. Ward, awaiting a Justice of the Peace, offered little comment beyond cryptic remarks about his actions and past military imprisonment.
