Danville Club Hosts Speaker on Australian Study

The Danville Business and Professional Women's Club held a dinner at the Country Club Inn with guest speaker Miss Louise Whitman, Virginia Federation World Affairs Chair and Herndon High School history teacher. She discussed her 30 day Australia study trip, pay gaps for women, and efforts to aid Australian club luncheon connections.

Glenwood Woman's Club Plans Community Improvement Program

The Glenwood Woman's Club held a Thursday meeting at Mrs. C W Gibson Jr's home with co host Mrs E A Calderon. President Mrs W D Carter led business, voting to join the Community Improvement Program with Sears Roebuck Foundation and General Federation of Womens Clubs, with project details to be decided later. Arts and Crafts sale planned for November at Mrs H M Campbell's home on Lorillard Circle, gifts and home baked foods to be offered. Members urged Red Cross contributions at next meeting. Mrs Gibson reported on Alice Kyle District meeting in Crewe. Visitor Mrs M P Estes welcomed. refreshments served.

V E W Auxiliary Holds Business Meet

The regular meeting of the Auxiliary to Ballard Pruitt Post No. 647 VFW met at the Martinsville Road post home. Presiding Mrs. Garnett Tate reported on rehabilitation and community service projects and discussed plans including the Voice of Democracy program and an annual high school essay contest. Donations were approved for various state and national organizations and a food basket was set for a needy veteran family. Three new members were welcomed: Mrs. Martha Saleman, Mrs. Rose Hinton, and Mrs. S. M. Heffinger. The council meeting was announced for Oct 15-16 at Natural Bridge with a large turnout urged. next meeting set for Oct 28.
