In Stirling, Scotland hundreds of students shouted obscenities and chanted for monarchy removal as Queen Elizabeth II visited Stirling University. Police formed a cordon to shield the queen while she continued her tour despite the jeers and catcalls.
The Senate defeated an anti-filibuster move to end debate on a bill barring busing for school desegregation except as a last resort. If enacted, it would limit busing to the nearest school and could reopen court orders to align with the restrictions.
Hughes accuses the Pentagon of excessive secrecy that harms national security. He warns he will question future officer promotions if those involved in the bombings have knowledge. The Armed Services Committee cannot act further before Congress adjourns, noting no Pentagon movement to date.
