Cape Norward to Bodie Island saw tides three feet above normal with surf overwash on Okra Coke dunes. Hatters Island beaches faced five to eight foot surf during the morning mass exodus reversal. Campers, vehicles, and boats headed back toward the coast while 25 to 30 anglers fished from Kill Devil Hills pier. Winds peaked at Cape Hatteras at 44 mph with gusts to 18 mph.
