Thanksgiving in South Carolina Sets Busy Holiday Pace

Statesville Fireman Dies In Blast

Leroy Horton a 41 year old Statesville fire captain died in a dynamite blast linked to his private pickup truck before eight in the morning at the fire station. Authorities say about 10 pounds of explosives caused the destruction with Horton’s legs severed. Investigators sent truck debris for lab analysis while checking Horton’s off duty activities for leads. He had a wife separated, three children, and a farm outside the city. He had 12 years as a firefighter and led Station No 2 on Park Drive.
