Washington AP reports the House Black Caucus urged a first national Black political convention. About 200 Black elected officials were calling for a national event in April or May to develop a Black agenda and crystallize national native and political theory perspectives.
The report outlines an accelerated Phaseout of the 101st Airborne in South Vietnam, cutting length by 45 days, with December ceilings at 139000 troops and many GIs returning home for Christmas. Some units will not head home, as remaining elements redeploy away from the A Shau Valley near Laos.
