A WWII Lockheed Lodestar crashed on takeoff near Rockwood Tennessee burning with about one ton of marijuana valued around 600000. Two men Brown Jr and McAnally from Gainesville Florida identified by sheriff. authorities await positive IDs. McAnally listed as a Florida Airlines pilot on leave.
North Carolina area forecasts detail coastal, southern, and mountain conditions through Friday night and Saturday. Coastal zones show partly cloudy to warm with 30 to 40 percent rain chances. mountains expect showers, thunder showers, and highs mid 70s to 80s. Winds primarily southeasterly to southerly at 5 to 15 mph.
Governor Hugh Carey announced that funds will be sent to New York City as an advance on welfare payments due from the state in the first quarter of 1976.
