Celebration of the Gospel at Calvary United Methodist

Calvary United Methodist Church will hold a four night preaching mission titled A Celebration of the Gospel from May 16 to May 19. Dr Arch E Acey of Ferrum Virginia will preach at 8 p m each evening. The program features worship song prayer reading of the Word and proclamation culminating in a call to commitment. An invitation is extended to all seeking guidance and a new set of life values.

Alumni Honor Richmonds George Modlin

More than 700 University of Richmond alumni gathered Saturday to honor retiring President George M. Modlin. The Fine Arts Building was renamed the George Matthews Modlin Fine Arts Center, and a portrait, a vacation trip check, a book of letters, and 12 university seal dinner plates were presented as tokens of appreciation to Modlin and his wife.

Antiwar marches draw large turnouts across the U.S.

About 200 protesters marched three miles in Fayetteville while a nearby Ft. Bragg arms show drew thousands. Open houses drew 25,000 at Fort Devens, 75,000 watched Torrance parade, and 10,000 joined New York’s Fifth Avenue march. Two observances canceled due to weather or personnel shifts. West Berlin parade drew 20,000 with few incidents.

West German farmers seek currency float and farm price shifts
