Two Death Row Inmates Killed in Colorado Prison

Er nest Alsip and Michael Bell, two death row inmates, were shot to death during an escape attempt at the Colorado State Penitentiary in Canon City. Guards fired when the pair allegedly climbed toward the wall near Cell Block Three, aiming to drop to a street beside Blossom Festival activities. Authorities noted two other inmates remained in the yard as the incident occurred five minutes before the parade.
