Water Woes Spur Idea of 1000 Mile West Aqueduct
AP reports the western U S contemplates a colossal project to move water from the wet Northwest to the arid Southwest via a 1000 mile aqueduct. Costs run into billions with routes and surveying in the hundreds of millions. Desalination or weather control could obviate it, but a Nile sized pipeline is seen as the only feasible future. The plan centers on moving water from the Columbia Snake system toward seven Colorado River Basin states.
