Gas tax bill advances funding farm research in Virginia
The House Finance Committee approved the Senate pennies for progress measure to raise about 210000 dollars yearly for agricultural research via a nickel per ton on feed and fertilizer and 44 cents from each seven cent gasoline tax refund for farmers. A 15 member farmer commission would oversee the program. The committee rejected a Moore amendment and a Senate amendment on related insurance and term changes while advancing several utility tax and local rate provisions.
