Senate panel to issue final Baker report today

The Senate Rules Committee plans to release its final chapter on Bobby Baker. The Democratic majority findings will be joined by Republican dissents and propose legislation to curb conflicts of interest. Chairman B Everett Jordan will hold a closed meeting before public release. Baker resigned in 1963 amid probes into his outside business and finances. He testified briefly, invoking the fifth amendment, as the inquiry lingered after charges of coverup.
