New Guidelines Urge Catholics Toward Inter Church Worship
The Bishops Commission for Ecumenical Affairs issued interim guidelines for U S Catholics urging shared prayer and common worship with other Christians. It allows lay and clergy participation in services but bars official roles in baptisms, marriages, and ordinations and cautions against universal intercommunion, except with the Eastern Orthodox. Local bishops set policies while the Vatican plans a universal directory.
