Connally Says He Has No Presidentials Anymore
In Gaston Texas Governor John Connally, a former Texas governor and longtime national figure, declares he does not want the presidency and would not seek the vice presidency. He cites changes in the office’s mystique, favorable odds for election, and his legal acquittal as shaping his stance. He supports Ford if energized and outlines economic and energy policy ideas while signaling no immediate political plans beyond speaking engagements.
