Suit Challenges USDA Procedures Used To Suspend Grocer
A federal suit filed Tuesday challenges USDA administrative procedures used to suspend Winston-Salem grocer John s Supermarket from the food stamp program. Plaintiff James J. Vlasis argues his constitutional rights were violated and seeks a hearing, a temporary stay, and voiding of the nine month disqualification. He says the program handles about $6,000 monthly in his business. He alleges he was denied the right to face accusers and that congress did not authorize the cited regulations.
