Methodists Told They Fail to Provide Needed Leadership
At the North Carolina Conference in Eden ton Street Methodist Church delegates from 56 counties debated finances as leaders urged stronger spiritual leadership. Dr. Robbins of Louisburg College warned that society’s revolutions drown out preachers and pressed for a church with moral concern and social compassion. Dr. Long of Nashville urged modernizing the church and reaching people outside the pews as lay leaders faced proposed budget cuts including a $10,000 reduction to the Methodist Children's Home budget viewed as potentially crippling.
