Bright Elementary Pupils Live A Wilderness Immersion
Four fifth graders from Bright Elementary School in Hialeah Florida spent a week in Everglades National Park as part of a joint program with Dade County schools. They endured long days of study and canoeing along Bear Lake Trail as rangers guided them through the 1 million acre preserve. The trip featured an unplanned immersion when a student fell from a canoe, but the group pressed on living in eight tent camps near Flamingo Bay and exploring Florida's wild inland waterways.
