Police Recapture Paroled Felon After Car Chase

Montford, fleeing a traffic stop, abducted Edgar A. McQuade at gunpoint and forced him to drive. Dilloway was shot and hospitalized in fair condition. Montford fled toward a trailer park before McQuade escaped. pursuit ended with Montford's arrest. He faces kidnapping and aggravated assault charges.

Chicago Riots Prompt Police Transfer Amid unrest

In Chicago during a violent disturbance on Sunday, Ray mond Howard, one of two policemen who answered the call, was transferred by Police Supt O W Wilson and later resigned, calling the action unfair. Sixteen injured, including a policeman and two civilians shot. three patrol cars burned and over 200 windows broken. Forty eight people arrested. Edward Marciniak of the Chicago Human Relations Commission sent four Spanish speaking specialists to the Near Northwest Side to probe underlying tensions. Wilson said Howard faced trouble and should not work in a district with racial tensions.

Ruby sanity trial delayed for Oswald killer case

Judge Louis Holland prepared jury instructions as five witnesses including four jailers and Dr. John Calahan testified Ruby, 55, is sane under preponderance of evidence. The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals ordered the current sanity determination before ruling on the Oswald murder appeal.
